Byung-Chul Oh obtained his Ph.D. from Seoul National University in 2001 and further improved his expertise as a postdoctoral fellow at the Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School. Currently, he is a full Professor at the College of Medicine, Gachon University, and serves as the Vice President of the Lee Gil Ya Cancer and Diabetes Institute. His research focuses on the intricate interplay between intracellular calcium (Ca2+) and phosphoinositides (PIPs). This includes understanding how excessive intracellular Ca2+ levels can negatively affect the function of PIP-binding proteins, leading to diseases, such as cancer and metabolic disorders.
