Geneviève Almouzni, director of research at the CNRS (France), former director of the Research Center of Institut Curie (2013–2018) and now honorary director, leads her research team at Institut Curie (France). She also coordinates the medico scientific programme on Epigenetics at Institut Curie. Her group has a longstanding interest in genome organization and function during development and health. They explore chromatin dynamics combining biochemistry, cell biology and physical approaches as well as genomics with a particular interest on cell cycle and defects associated to tumorigenesis. Before joining Institut Curie, Genevieve carried out her post-doctoral work at NIH, Bethesda, USA In Chromatin Biology, She received her PhD from the Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris. Her work has been funded by grants from the Agence National of Research (France), European Research Council as well as cancer foundations. Active in European actions, she has coordinated or contributed to several European networks to promote Epigenetics and train young researchers. She is EMBO member, Member of the French Academy of Sciences, fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences. She is also member of the ERC council since 2019.
