Computing brain metastasis impact

The degree of neurocognitive impairment among patients with brain metastasis varies greatly. Besides the tumour mass effect, little has been known about how brain metastases impact brain function. Sanchez-Aguilera, Masmudi-Martín et al. now demonstrate that a molecular program, rather than brain tumour mass, is responsible for neurocognitive impairment and its variability.
